If the result is not what you expected
The portal rejected the PDF for being too large
The PDF is roughly the size of the image inside it, so a 12 MP phone photo produces a large PDF. Shrink the photo first with Compress Image for Email, then convert the smaller version — that is far more effective than trying to compress the finished PDF.
My document is sideways or upside down in the PDF
The page follows the image's own orientation. Phone photos carry a rotation flag that some apps honour and others ignore, so an image that looks upright in your gallery can be stored rotated. Rotate and re-save it in your phone's photo editor before converting — that bakes the correct orientation into the file itself.
The text in my document is hard to read in the PDF
Converting to PDF preserves the image exactly as-is; it does not improve legibility. If the underlying photo is blurry or low-contrast, fix it first with Fix Blurry Image Text or Clean Up Scanned Document, then convert the improved version.
My file is a HEIC from an iPhone, not a JPG
